Loteprednol and prednisolone are equally effective for patients undergoing cataract surgery. The 2 topical steroids were comparable on best spectacle-corrected visual acuity (BSCVA) of 20/30 or better at 1 week (100% vs 96.7%) and 1 month (100% vs 100%) after surgery. The study was a prospective multicenter comparative trial to compare the effectiveness of loteprednol 0.5% and prednisolone acetate 1% in patients undergoing cataract surgery. The intention is to enroll 100 eyes in the study, although enrolment is not yet complete.The loteprednol group had 31 patients (average age, 71.1 years) and the prednisolone group had 34 patients (average age, 64.4 years).Patients were prescribed either loteprednol or prednisolone twice a day.
